Michael Porter - Keynote speaker

 

Michael is a librarian, blogger, presenter, technology fan, author and PEZ collector. He has nearly 20 years of experience   working in Libraryland and has presented hundreds of times to library staff around the world. In 2009 he was selected as a Library Journal “Mover & Shaker” and is currently the Communications Manager at WebJunction.org in Seattle, Washington. Before heading to WebJunction in 2006, Michael worked at OCLC Western (Ontario, CA), the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation US Library Program and the Allen County Public Library (Fort Wayne, IN). He holds an MLS degree from Indiana University (’99). Michael’s professional focus is on practical technology, community, library futures, training and planning. He is currently working on a book about successful electronic communities for ALA Editions, co-authors the “Internet Spotlight” column in each issue of Public Libraries Magazine and also teaches the “Technology Planning” course for PLA’s “Certified Public Library Administrator Program”. Jenica Rogers - Opening Speaker

 

Jenica P. Rogers is Director of Libraries at the State University of New York at Potsdam, coming from a background in cataloging, collection development, and staff training. Jenica’s current professional interests include fostering and promoting collaborative collection development among like libraries; creating accountability and reliability in library budgeting; advocating for rational implementation of emerging technologies in academic libraries; and nurturing and mentoring new library professionals. Graham Lavender - Morning Speaker

 

 Graham Lavender is a librarian at the McGill Library and a recent (Spring '09) graduate of McGill's School of Information Studies. His work in McGill's Library Technology Services deals with Web 2.0 tools such as Twitter and the McGill Library's blogs. He was inspired to start blogging after seeing John Dupuis present at Web 2.You 2008. Graham looks forward to experiencing Web 2.You from yet another perspective, as he was an attendee in 2008, a co-organizer in 2009, and now a presenter in 2010.

Michael Lenczner- Panelist

 

Michael Lenczner has spent the past ten years in the non-profit sector working on public information infrastructure, civic engagement, and strategic planning and development. He co-founded Ile Sans Fil and CivicAccess.ca, serves on the board of several non-profits, and is a frequent collaborator on academic research. Patrick Lozeau - Panelist

 

Patrick Lozeau Picture

Patrick M. Lozeau is a graduate of l'École de bibliothéconomie et des sciences de l'information de l'Université de Montréal. Before managing the digital repositories at Université de Montréal, he worked on implementing the mandatory submission of electronic thesis and dissertations in Open Access.

Starting January 2010, he will be a librarian at inLibro, a Montreal based support company for open source software in libraries. Before becoming a librarian, he worked on grassroots media projects in Montreal. He also teaches "Gestion des technologies en bibliothèque" at l'EBSI. Michele Ann Jenkins has worked as a Web Developer and a Technical Consultant for the UN High Commission on Refugees in Geneva, Switzerland and for the World Health Organization. She is a graduate of McGill's School of Information Studies.
